WIN@Sea Showcased at Leading Marine Science Symposium in France

The WIN@Sea project was presented at the 14th International Temperate Reef Symposium (ITRS) in Brest, France. The modelling work on Kriegers Flak, conducted as part of the OLAMUR and WIN@Sea projects, was a central focus of the presentation. The symposium – which attracted more than 300 participants, the highest attendance in its history – is the premier conference for marine scientists working on temperate hard-bottom habitats, including natural rocky reefs, biogenic surfaces, and man-made structures.

The talk, titled “Is Ocean Space Shared a Problem Halved? Assessing Multi-Use Potential of Offshore Wind with Low-Trophic Aquaculture,” focused on the progress and outcomes of modelling kelp and mussel biomass under different farming scenarios. It also provided an overview of the WIN@Sea project as a whole. The presentation was well received by symposium delegates, including researchers involved in similar initiatives in Norway and Ireland.

Overall, the symposium offered an excellent opportunity to showcase our work, exchange ideas, and build connections with colleagues pursuing similar goals.
