WIN@sea and OLAMUR caught lots of attention at the highly profiled EU Mission Oceans and Water EU Presidency Conference held in Nyborg, Denmark, in late September 2025.
WIN@sea was selected to host one of the conference site visits and invited the participants to see, touch and taste seaweeds and mussels in Kerteminde Harbour. Mads from Kerteminde Seafarm, the largest seaweed producer in Denmark, demonstrated his seaweed hatchery, the local Maritime Garden demonstrated their mussel cultivation unit, and AlgaeFood had prepared innovative food with seaweeds. As the final element of the site visit, Tim and Annette talked the visitors through the idea of sharing the space at sea for integrated production of fossil free energy and blue food. We presented multi-use solutions at sites like Kriegers Flak to show how wind farm operators and aquaculture producers can share data, vessels, and services, reducing costs and emissions, while advancing biodiversity protection and nutrient removal.
Later at the conference, Annette and Marie presented the finding of the Danish Multi-Use projects – WIN@sea, OLAMUR and ULTFARMS. Dorothy Dankel from OLAMUR made a fantastic job, as the skilled and energetic moderator of the conference.
We experienced a solid interest in our work from both scientists, NGO’s, authorities and politicians.
